Jesus Lira

Jesus Lira was born in New Braunfels Texas. At the age of 6, his family moved to Cibolo Texas which is about 15 minutes south of New Braunfels and 10 north of San Antonio Texas. He grew up playing sports but really fell in love with Football and Baseball in High School where he was a Varsity letterman for 3 years in Football and 2 years in Baseball. 3 months following his High School graduation he shipped off to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego California to earn the title of United States Marine. He did so on June 17th 1999 where he graduated number 1 in his class which gave him the title as Honor Graduate and meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal. He went on to his follow on school for Marine Combat training on Camp Pendleton California. He graduated in February as a squad leader and went directly to 21 area Del Mar on Camp Pendleton where he would be going to his schooling for his job field in the Marine Corps which would be as an Assault Amphibian Crewman.

His first duty station would be Twentynine Palms California where he arrived in the middle of the year 2000 and would spend the next 6 years of his career at. After showing the leadership qualities that the unit was looking for, he was given a billet promotion and was put in charge of his own vehicle giving him the title as Crew Chief. He received another meritorious promotion in April of 2001, this time to the rank of Corporal. His first deployment was in 2001, and it was a 6 month UDP (Unit Deployment Program) to Okinawa, Japan where he had the honor of going advanced party and was able to visit other various countries to train with their military and sight see. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in Jan of 2003, right before his deployment to Kuwait. Jesus Lira was a part of the initial invasion that entered into Iraq and took control of Baghdad in 21 days. He was given an independent assignment separate from his platoon, where he was put in charge of a Mortar section during the duration of the war. During his time period in Iraq is where he earned his Combat Action ribbon. 3 months after returning home from this deployment, he was put on a 7 month UDP to Okinawa, Japan ranging from 2003-2004. After 5 years of officially being together and 3 deployments, he knew that the ultimatum was coming and he finally proposed to his longtime girlfriend and high school sweetheart Cynthia Limrick. He has been happily married since November 22 2004 and has 2 amazing children, one 3 year old boy and one 6 year old girl.

In 2005 he would do his last UDP to Okinawa Japan and ultimately his last deployment in the Marine Corps. After leaving 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, Delta Co. Reinforced, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation as a Sergeant for all that he did while assigned to the Unit. At the beginning of 2006 he was assigned the Assault Amphibian Schools Battalion on 21 area Camp Pendleton California as an Instructor/Section Leader for the AAO/AAUL Assault Amphibian Officers Course and Assault Amphibian Unit Leaders courses which are the advanced courses for the Officer and Staff Non-Commissioned Officers. He filled the roles of Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Commander for 3 years before he was assigned as the s-3 Assistant Training Chief for the whole Battalion. He assumed this role for a year before he volunteered for orders to the most rigorous B-Billet the Marine Corps has to offer, Recruiting Duty. Prior to departing Assault Amphibian Schools Battalion he was awarded his 2nd Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. He arrived to Recruiting Station San Antonio Texas as a production recruiter in Uvalde Texas on June of 2010. During this time is when he met Daniel Balderas, they would see each other every time they would be dropping off their applicants at the hotel. They would chat for a little bit before they had to drive hours before getting back home.

After seeing each other so often they created a friendship that is still strong to this date. Jesus Lira was a recruiter for a year before he was given an opportunity to take on another demanding challenge of being a Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in charge (SNCOIC) of an office in Round Rock Texas. 1 year was spent in Round Rock Texas before moving to another struggling office in the Austin North area. He remained the SNCOIC of the Austin North office for 3 years before being moved to the Headquarters to become one the Assistant Recruiting Instructors for Recruiting Station San Antonio. This is the first year that they would win the Western Recruiting Region Station of the Year for Fiscal year 2016. They would also win it again for Fiscal year 2017. In August of 2017 he was put back as a SNCOIC for a metro station Recruiting Sub-station Westlakes which is on the West side of San Antonio. Jesus was recently assigned as the Assistant Recruiting Instructor where he will remain as he prepares for his retirement in June of 2019

Throughout the duration of their friendship, Daniel has worked on numerous vehicles that Jesus has owned. During some of these interactions is where Daniel would bring up the idea of starting a Non-Profit organization that would help veterans with their automobile needs. All these thoughts came to fruition during this past year. Daniel started doing all of the legwork to get this Non-Profit organization off of the ground. Daniel Balderas had been talking to Jesus about the possibilities of assisting in the running of this Non-profit organization. After talking specifics about what the Non-profit organization would be doing to assist veterans in need, there was no way that Jesus could say no. This organization is one of a kind that would help veterans in need to get them back on the road and continue to be productive members of society.
